The Problems of Railroads
They need a technological update.
Their infrastructure requirements are an
economic disaster.
No more Studies are needed.
The Sky Hook
A High-Speed Train Proposal
Modular engine chassis
disconnect from the passenger compartments
at stations with elevator-style unload/load
platforms.
This allows ground level access
and minimizes departure areas.
They can be built above existing
tracks, roads and other limitations
eliminating the constraints
of landlocked properties.
Because no intersections would
have to be rebuilt year after year
the cost of this project would
be offset with savings alone.
Snow and ice would not be problems because
the mechanics of the transport module
are above and enclosed.
The two-track suspension system
would eliminate the problems
inherent in a monorail system.
The center of gravity would be a hanging load
rather than a load sitting on top.
This would provide the stability to allow
higher speeds.
Lithium batteries and computer-controlled
servomotors
would drive the modular engine chassis.
Different size and type cubicles could be
built that would
accommodate four passengers at a time
or larger cubicles for cars and other shipped
goods.
This would allow 24/7 access.
Iron and construction workers
could be hired by the thousands to erect
support columns.
It could spur an economic engine and
allow workers to own and operate facilities
and
engage citizen participation.
